Purpose: To help non-English speaking adults acquire the ability to speak, read, write and understand the English language.

Training: It is a requirement to attend a 1-hour Tutor Information Session and a 12-hour Tutor Training before you are matched with a student.

Time Commitment: Tutors are asked to make a one year commitment to meet with their student at least 1 1/2 hours every week.

Cost: $25.00

Qualifications:

• Interested in and enjoy relating to a variety of people
• Flexible, friendly, patient and optimistic
• Meet and adhere to the BCLN Volunteer Eligibility and Code of Conduct
• Willingness to maintain confidentiality
• Literate (no professional training or knowledge of ESL is necessary)
